Community effort makes Daffodil Days a success

March 24, 2013
Mindy Kunkel, Marshalltown , Times-Republican

This month the American Cancer Society sponsored its annual Daffodil Days - a program that brings hope to people and their loved ones who are facing cancer.

Orders for daffodils were taken and given to friends, family members and cancer patients. This year would not have been possible without the generous support of Mitchell Family Funeral Home, a faithful sponsor of this event for many years, as well as Wilson Law Firm, which also served as a sponsor.

A big thank you to Lowe's Flowers for providing the floral tissue; Designz By Dawn for providing the greenery for the vases; Preceptor Alpha Epsilon Sorority for wrapping the 600 bunches of daffodils; Church of Christ for the use of their facility; and St. Mary rectory for taking orders. Joyce Buck and Val Ruff provided invaluable assistance to make this one of Marshalltown's most successful Daffodil Days.

Because of this community effort, area families fighting cancer will have hope for a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
