Devin Louks and Corrie Hayes went to Individual All-State at UNI on Monday, March 25 to perform their prose pieces.
Louks has had great success in both large group and individual events, but this year has been an especially outstanding one. While speech pieces can be both humorous and serious, Louks always chooses one that fits her personality and seems to pull the crowd in as soon as she begins.
Hayes is a freshman, but with parents as former speech coaches, is no stranger to speech. She achieved great success in large group speech and received overall Division I's in her acting and prose pieces during individual state contest before being nominated to perform her prose piece at All-State.
Pictured are East Marshall's Corrie Hayes and Devin Louks. They selected by the Iowa High School Speech Association to participate in the All-State Individual Speech Festival at The University of Northern Iowa. Both student from East Marshall performed in prose and were directed by coach Sarah Chase, whom was also selected to serve as a room chair for the festival.
Speech Coach Sarah Chase is proud of the effort and enthusiasm both students brought to their team and individual performances. She believes that being able to perform at All-State is not only an honor, but it is also a great learning opportunity for students to observe and enjoy fellow outstanding performances.
