Arthur Graydon Mauk, 85, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away, Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, IA. Arthur was born July 7, 1927 to Arthur and Ruby (Ireland) Mauk in Mission, TX. The family returned to Iowa and he was raised in Tabor, IA where he graduated from Tabor High School in 1945. He served in the United States Army from 1945-46 and then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He then moved to Des Moines where he met the love of his life, JoAnn Bronsema, and they were married April 19, 1952 in Des Moines. They lived in the greater Des Moines area until 1993 when they moved to Marshalltown to be near their children. Arthur had a sense of humor and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. He loved his family and would always begin with a prayer at family meals.
He is survived by his wife of 60+ years, JoAnn, son Mark (Mary) Mauk, daughter Marilee (Greg) Nichols, both of Marshalltown. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren: Matthew (Rachel Meyers) Mauk, Jonathan Mauk, Andrew (Megan Bauer) Mauk, Sarah Mauk, Katie (Andrew) Mott, Sarah (David) Winkler, Paul (Jona) Nichols, Doctors Brent and Laura Nichols, Timothy (Sara) Nichols, Melody Nichols, Chad Nichols and Heather (fiancee Tom Watson) Nichols. Great grandchildren include Maxwell and Maryann Nichols and Carolyn Mott. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Grant, daughter Pamela Ann and his schnauzer, Pepper.
