Artist David Taylor of the Garwin area is shown holding a still life in acrylic at the Perfect Setting Gallery in Marshalltown Wednesday. Another still life by him can be seen on the panel to his immediate right. Taylor’s new work will be on display during a special showing at the gallery, 13 W. Main St., 11 to 2 p.m. April 13. Taylor, who is partially blind, said he began painting several years ago at the request of his grandchildren, who had enjoyed his initial efforts. While primarily self-taught, Taylor said he recently began taking lessons at the Central Iowa Art Association of Marshalltown. The artist said he is currently working in a still life phase of art but has done landscapes and other subjects. Brown’s Shoe Fit Co., at 10 E. Main St., Marshalltown, has other work by Taylor on display.
