Lois Corrine Vint, 78, died on April 1, 2013, in Arlington, Texas. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale. A visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Clemons Cemetery, Clemons.

Corrine was born in State Center in 1934 at home. In 1935 the Shimel family moved to a farm northeast of Clemons. She spent most of her childhood in Clemons. In fifth grade, Corrine wrote a theme, she wanted to be a music teacher. She followed this theme throughout her life and became a music teacher. She was also very active with sports growing up playing basketball, tennis and golf. She worked hard to earn money for college, taking over her brother Marvin's paper route, worked at a resort in Lake Okoboji and detassling.

In 1951 she graduated salutatorian of her class and moved on to the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. While fulfilling her goal of becoming a teacher, she was also the Director of Bartlett Hall, and later became the Dean of Women at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

Corrine loved to travel and see new places. Early in life, she toured 13 countries in Europe with the All-American Choir. Twice she made trips to China as a teacher. The Vint family also traveled extensively. One of her favorite things was the family trips across the country to California, Arizona, Florida, Washington D.C. and many others. She always wanted to learn and gain knowledge. While teaching, she completed a Masters Degree.

Corrine was a devoted wife to her husband, John for 45 years and a great mother to Matt. She was a great cook and most of all she loved music. For many years, she performed at church and school services. She enjoyed performing and spreading music through the children she taught.

Corrine was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Amasa Shimel; her husband, John; siblings: Roy, Venita and Melvin.

She is survived by her son, Matt (Sandra); and siblings, Margaret and Marvin.
