DES MOINES - Getting goals from the same duo, the Marshalltown boys' soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Des Moines Hoover on the road Monday.

Alfonso Gonzalez put the Bobcats on the board in the seventh minute and Ellis Buchwald added another score in the 50th minute, after each scored a goal in Marshalltown's season opening 2-0 win over Indianola. Martin Chavarria assisted on both scores as the Bobcats improved to 2-0 on the season.

"Kreighton Miller had a amazing game with 12 saves, many keeping us in the game," MHS coach Creighton Jenness said.

"I was worried before the start of the game with the lackluster motivation by many, but we proved that we could still play."

The Bobcats face Des Moines Roosevelt on the road Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
