AMES - The Iowa State women's basketball fan base has always been pretty loyal compared to other programs around the country.

This season, they proved it with big numbers.

Averaging 9,970 fans, the Cyclones had the second-high national average attendance per game, trailing only Tennessee's 11,390. That is the highest finish in the history of the program.

Right behind Iowa State were Final Four representatives Louisville (9,358) and Notre Dame (8,979) as well as 2011-12 national champion Baylor (9,160). National champion UConn was sixth, while Big Ten representatives Purdue and Michigan State also ranked in the top 10 as did the Big 12's Texas Tech. Five Big 12 schools were ranked among the top 30 in attedance.

In 15 home games, ISU topped 10,000 fans 10 different times, including a season-high 11,963 during the Kansas State game. The Cyclones finished 13-2 at home this year. It was the 10th time under coach Bill Fennelly that ISU has finished a home season with two losses or less.
