Delmar Runner, 90, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Villa Del Sol, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the Main St. Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes. There will be no funeral services. Delmar was born Feb. 2, 1923, to Eather and Lucinda (Thompson) Runner in Liberty Township, Marshall County. He graduated from Ferguson High School. He served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a B29 Flight Engineer. After the war he attended GI on the farm training school. Delmar was united in marriage to Marjorie Woodworth on March 4, 1944 in San Marcos, TX. He was employed with Lennox, in Marshalltown. He also engaged in farming. Delmar was a member of the Marshalltown American Legion, 40 & 8, Lennox Management Club, Timber Creek Cemetery Association, Isaac Walton League, Lions Club, and Men's gardening club. Delmar was also the co-director of the Marshall County Wool Growers Association. He enjoyed gardening, bible history, and genealogy.
Delmar will be missed by his wife, Marjorie, a daughter, Joyce (Steve) Salasek, of Marshalltown, a son, Jim (Linda) Runner, of Marshalltown, three grandchildren; Tracy (Kevin) Hundley, Jeff (Anne) Salasek, Nick (Lindsey) Salasek, and a great granddaughter, Ava Salasek.
He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Bonnie and Connie, in 1948.
