Daniel Thomas Jefferson Jr., 1201 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due within 30 days of today's date.

Latrice L. McMullen, of Waterloo, made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge and a serious assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on May 13. McMullen was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Arturo Miranda Perez, 708 Union St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due within 30 days of today's date.

Pamela May Schoenhut, of Montour, made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. She received a deferred judgment which included payment of a $65 fine, attorney's fees and $60 in court costs, obeying the law and a six month self-supervised probation, At the successful conclusion of the six months her record will be expunged.

Stevi Ehler, of Gilman, made an initial appearance on a City of Gilman infraction. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on May 28 in Magistrate Court.

Dionte Trimble, 3194 Quarry Rd., made an initial appearance on a aggravated domestic assault-strangulation charge and a criminal mischief charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on April 30. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. Should Trimble make bond, the court ordered he be released through the Department of Correctional Services. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Consuelo Garcia, 1012 Bromley St., made an initial appearance on a identity theft charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on May 8. A $5,000 cash bond was posted.

Mathew Andrew McCanna, 401 E. Southridge Rd. Apt. B, made an initial appearance on a simple domestic assault charge, a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge and a interference with official acts charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on May 7 in Magistrate Court. Bond was set at $300 cash or surety. Should McCanna make bond, the court ordered he be released through the Department of Correctional Services. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on April 30. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. Should Yakel make bond, the court ordered she be released through the Department of Correctional Services.

Incidents

On Monday, an employee with Appliance Doctor, 206 S. 8th Ave., reported damage to the passenger sider middle door window and on a Ford Econo van and the theft of a Mac ratcheting screw driver tool set and case. Estimated value of loss was $500.

On Monday, a staffer at the Marshalltown Learning Center, 1002 S. 3rd Ave., reported damage to the southeast corner of the support services building. Estimated value of damage was $1,000.

Arrests

On Sunday, Omar Colunga-Silva, 804 W. State St., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Sunday, Justin Alan Hartwig, 409 May St., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

On Monday, a car driven by Ronald Merle Eberline, 1318 W. Main St., was backing out of a parking spot in the Marshalltown High School lot when it collided with a vehicle driven by Reynaldo Andrade, 605 E. Church St., which was traveling north through the lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Eberline car was estimated at $1,000 while the Andrade vehicle received an estimated $2,500 in damage.

On Saturday, a car driven by a female juvenile from Laurel was northbound in the 1700 block of South Sixth Street when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by Mitchell Casey Swenson, 914 S. 6th Ave., which had stopped suddenly to avoid striking a bicyclist that had crossed out-of-control into traffic. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for following too close. Damage to the juvenile's car was estimated at $5,000 while the Swenson pickup received an estimated $500 in damage.

Accidents

On Monday, a box truck driven by Patrick David McWilliams, of Grundy Center, was southbound on Zeller Avenue approaching a small cement bridge when it hit a large pothole impacting the bottom of the truck and causing the driver to lose steering capabilities sending it into the bridge embankment and down into the creek where it came to rest upside down in the water. McWilliams was transported by private party to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. Damage to the McWilliams truck was estimated at $15,000 while the bridge received an estimated $10,000 in damage.

On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Eliuth Sanchez-Perez, of Shelton, Neb., was northbound on Highway 14 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Sanchez-Perez vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
