FORT DODGE - Lindsey Ricken scored her first goal of the season and the Marshalltown girls' soccer team netted a victory in its Central Iowa Conference opener, defeating host Fort Dodge 1-0 on Thursday night.
The Bobcats improved to 6-2 overall by winning their third of four consecutive road contests.
"It was a hard-fought game and I am proud of the way we played," said MHS coach Allison Osmundson. "In the second half we did a good job of possessing the ball."
MHS goalkeeper Amanda Hughes came up with 11 saves in the shutout. The Bobcats have held their opponents scoreless in all six wins this spring.
Lexi Vaughn got the assist on the game's only goal.
MHS is back in action Tuesday with a match at Southeast Polk (6-4).
