Chris James Linehan, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 24. Linehan was released on his own recognizance.

Dyllon Aswegan, of Albion, made an initial appearance on an application for probation revocation. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 10 a.m. June 24. Aswegan will continue to be released under unsupervised probation.

Lance Mandell Walker, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft-third degree charge and a public intoxication charge. On the theft-third degree charge the public defender's office was appointed to handle his case and the preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 24. Walker was released with supervision and is to sign a promise to appear for all proceedings form and go to the adult probation office within 24 hours and sign a pre-trial release agreement. The court ordered he be photographed and fingerprinted before release. On the public intoxication charge, he pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning June 4 until the debt is paid. The court also ordered Walker obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Colleen Dolan, 1906 Summit St., made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due within 30 days of today's date.

Sondra Alas, 1501 Summit St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning June 4 until the debt is paid, or, in lieu of the fine and surcharge, she may do 12 hours of community service plus pay the court costs to be completed by Sept. 15.

Donald Ray Martin, 715 Washington St., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-second offense charge, a driving under suspension-unpaid fines charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 24. Martin was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Shawn Lyles, of Beardstown, Ill., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge and a failure to obey a traffic control device charge. He will hire his own attorney. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 24. Lyles was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Allison Marie Hooper, 305 S. 10th St., made an initial appearance on a attempted burglary-third degree-aiding and abetting charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. May 22. Hooper was released on her own recognizance.

On Friday, a person associated with Man's Best Friend, 1410 Iowa Ave. West, reported hit-and-run damage to a Chevy Silverado pickup while parked at 1401 S. Seventh Ave. Estimated value of damage was $2,500.

Accidents

On Saturday, a car driven by Kolton Craig Bolar, 418 N. Fifth St., was northbound around a curve on 12th Street when it went out of control, slammed into the west side of the bridge, crossed over the road and collided with a fence on the east side of the roadway. The driver was at a high level of intoxication. Passenger Gilbert Ramedo Griego, 610 E. Linn St., was possibly injured, but not treated or transported. Bolar was cited for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended, no insurance, failure to maintain control and operation without registration. Damage to the Bolar car was estimated at $3,000.

On Friday, a car driven by Jacob Charles Clements, of Newton, was westbound on Highway 30 when it hit a patch of slush and slid into a pickup driven by Joel L. White, of Fond Du Lac, Wis., which was also traveling west in the outside lane. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Clements car was estimated at $3,000 while the White pickup received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Friday, a pickup driven by Martin Cano-Carona, 3104 S. 14th St., was eastbound on East Ferner Street when it went through the stop sign at the intersection with Glenwood Terrace and collided with a vehicle driven by Carlos Eduardo Chavez Perez, 1304 Glenwood Terrace, which was attempting to turn west from Glenwood Terrace. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cano-Carona pickup was estimated at $2,000 while the Chavez Perez vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On May 1, a car driven by Abbie Lynn Pruitt, of Tama, was exiting the Hy-Vee parking lot onto Center Street when it failed to yield and entered colliding with a car driven by Beverly Jean Olmstead-Thomas, 2161 180th St., which was traveling north on South Center Street. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Pruitt car was estimated at $1,000 while the Olmstead-Thomas car received an estimated $2,500 in damage.
