Lenihan held its seventh annual spelling bee May 2 with sixth grader Abril Alcaraz taking the championship.
Alcaraz beat out 24 other participants who qualified for the final bee based on their performance on a qualifying exam. She won by correctly spelling the word "measure."
Runner-up was Eve Nettesheim. Both received a trophy for their excellent spelling performance. All participants received medals.
