The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the boys soccer substate pairings Wednesday and the Marshalltown Bobcats will have a first-round bye and then will host a semifinal game at Leonard Cole Field.

Class 3A No. 11 Marshalltown (11-1) will receive a bye during the first round on May 20 and then will play the winner between Des Moines Hoover and Southeast Polk on May 22. That match will start at 6:30 p.m. and be played on the Bobcats' home turf.

If the Bobcats can advance past the semifinals, potential opponents in the substate final would be Class 3A No. 8 Dowling Catholic, Des Moines Lincoln or Waukee. The substate championship match will take place at noon on May 25 at Dowling Catholic.

In Class 1A, No. 10 Gladbrook-Reinbeck will host a first-round match against Cedar Valley Christian on May 20. That 6:30 p.m. game will take place in Reinbeck.

The winner of that first-rounder will face either No. 6 Center Point-Urbana or Postville on May 22 at Center Point-Urbana at 5 p.m.

The other side of the Substate 2 bracket features Aplington-Parkersburg, Denver and No. 3 Waterloo Columbus Catholic. Columbus Catholic was given a first round bye and will host the substate title game.

South Tama County will be on the road for its first-round 2A substate matchup against Grinnell at 5 p.m. on May 20.

The winner of that match gets Class 2A No. 3 Norwalk in the semifinals. Norwalk, which will host the final two rounds, was given a first-round bye.
