The Le Grand Pioneer Heritage Library will host IPTV's "Dantastic" Dan Wardell at 6:30 p.m. May 16.
Wardell is producer and host of the IPTV Kids Clubhouse at Iowa Public Television. His adventures take him to schools and libraries across the state, teaching kids to turn off their TVs, to go outside and play, to use their imaginations and, most importantly, to read a good book.
Wardell will tell an interactive, original story at the library, encouraging kids to spend time reading and playing outside, and to limit television/screen time.

"Even though I work at Iowa Public Television, a TV station, when you go home, I want you to turn your TV off and your video games, too," Wardell said.
He tells the kids to use their imaginations, go outside or find a good book at the library. He also promotes healthy eating, as most kids know from his "Healthy Minutes" segments on IPTV Kids Clubhouse.
"This is a kickoff for our 2013 Summer Library Program," said Shelley Barron, library director.
"Dig into Reading" is the theme of the Summer Library Program and it will run from May 28 through Aug. 1 and includes reading logs, programs, story time, prizes and other events.
Special programs will be held in June and July and will feature crafts, games, special presenters and more. Some of the presenters include, a unicycle riding juggler, a balloon storyteller, a magician, the "Bassmeister," a magician storyteller, visits from the Blank Park Zoo and more.
Wardell's visit is free and open to any area children. For questions about Dan Wardell's visit or the Summer Library Program, call 641-479-2122.
