The next wave of fundraising dinners at area homes are on tap to help boost support for the Marshalltown High School Roundhouse renovation.
The 10 dinners last year, led by the Marshalltown Assistance League, raised $13,500 for the project. A group of summer dinners are set to begin with family-friendly event June 1 at the home of Mike and Andrea Nixon in Haverhill.
"We've had great community response from the dinners," said Gretchen Hageman of the Assistance League. "We decided to do it again because there was such great interest."

The dinners each feature a theme and also could include games and entertainment. A Roundhouse renovation committee member also is on hand at each dinner to talk about the project. Typically, there will be 10 to 12 guests at each dinner, and the events each raise more than $1,000 for the project.
Other upcoming dinners this summer include a June 15 event at the home of Dr. Rod and Anna Dempewolf, an Aug. 3 Lew Miller-prepared backyard barbecue at the home of Dr. Mike and Kathy McCune and an Aug. 21 bridge luncheon at the home of Bob and Jane Bauer.
Marshalltown High School Principal Aiddy Phomvisay attended several of the dinners last year and was impressed with the support.
"I'm extremely thankful to the Assistance League," Phomvisay said. "It's a great way to give to the Roundhouse while having an amazing meal. It involves so many people, and we have fun."
Cost of the dinner is $100 per person and all proceeds go to the major Roundhouse renovation project. For more information or to make a reservation, contact Jill Severson at 641-751-9862.
