Retirement party for Anderson
The Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and staff invite the public to an open house honoring Ken Anderson from 2 to 4 p.m. May 31 at the Fisher Community Center, 709 S. Center St. in Marshalltown. Anderson is retiring on May 31 after serving as chamber president for 19 years.
Local democrats elect officers
Marshall County Democrats elected officers to lead the local party for the next two years at the May Democratic Central Committee meeting.
Central Committee members elected Wayne Sawtelle as the new party chair. Sawtelle is a recently retired, well-known, long-time Marshalltown professional firefighter.
"I have more time available now and I want to continue to actively participate in the Marshall County community," Sawtelle said.
Other officers elected include First Vice Chair Tom Swartz, second vice chair, Secretary Harlietta Helland, Treasurer Sue Klaessy, Finance Chair Bert Permar and Affirmative Action Chair Don Wilder. The members of the Central Committee expressed their appreciation to Kay Gill, retiring party chair, for her contributions the last three years.

This prestigious award stands as a testament to this enterprising florist and its contribution to the floral industry. This is the second year in a row that Lowe's has been awarded this recognition.
Lowe's Flowers has been an integral member of the Marshalltown community for more than 50 years. Owner, Rick Gooding, has been affiliated with Lowe's for 48 of those years.
