Conrad Norman Muzzy, 84, of Madison Wis., formerly of Cincinnati, passed away May 15, 2013. Services will be held May 25 in Madison, Wis., with a graveside service at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Marshalltown, 9 a.m., May 27. Information, memorials and condolences at www.gundersonfh.com.
Conrad was born December 15, 1928 in Ames to Edward and Genevieve (Mason) Muzzy. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1946 and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. After working at Monsanto and Proctor & Gamble, Conrad spent over twenty years owning and operating small businesses in southern Ohio.
At a MHS class reunion, he met classmate Elizabeth (Wester) Wulfsberg. They married on October 2, 1993. For 23 years he visited prisoners in Ohio as a part of Kairos Prison Ministry International, and treasured the relationships developed inside and on the street. At the end, he fondly remembered younger days with his lifelong friend Addison Snyder, who passed away in March. As a child, Conrad lived on N. 10th Avenue and Addison on N. 9th Ave., and the friends would meet in the alley that separated their back yards.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth of Madison, Wis.; brother Dennis (Elaine) of Lexington, Ky.; sister-in-law Ann Muzzy of Farmington, Minn.; children Anna Muzzy (Jeff Bell) of Seattle and Sarah Hankins of West Chester, Ohio; four step-children, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Darwin and daughter Jamie.
