Support for Poppy Days helps veterans

May 24, 2013
Delores Popp, Marshalltown , Times-Republican

A big thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make Memorial Poppy Days in Marshalltown very successful. All poppy contributions received are donated to veterans' rehabilitation projects.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit #46 appreciated the courtesy of Walmart, Hy-Vee and Fareway for allowing volunteers from the Legion Post, Sons and Auxiliary to spend many hours distributing poppies in front of their stores. Thanks also to the Legion Post Home and the Iowa Veterans Home for also helping with the poppy program. Your response was their thank you.

Thanks to Arlene Kremer and her helpers who carried out the theme, "Saluting our Veterans - Saluting our Flag," in the poppy widow display at the Marshall Town Center. We are grateful to the center for allowing us to decorate a window each year. Thanks for making a difference.
