Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Agriculture will begin distributing farmers market coupons and nutrition education to eligible older people in June.
To be eligible for the farmers market coupons people must be 60 years of age or older at the time of the application (born in or before 1953) with a household income level at or below $21,256 if single or $28,693 for a married couple.
Those interested will be asked to complete a one-page application verifying their eligibility. Coupons will be distributed once per season on a first-come first-served basis at locations throughout the 10 counties Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging serves.
