ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Former Marshalltown High School standout Jeff Clement went deep twice Wednesday and the Rochester Red Wings needed both of them in a narrow 8-7 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the completion of Tuesday's scheduled game.
The Red Wings, the Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, also won the regular scheduled game by the same 8-7 margin and Clement saved a run in that game with a diving stop at first base.
In the opener, Clement hit a solo home run in the second inning off Lehigh Valley starter Ethan Martin to make it 2-1 and then added another solo shot in the sixth off IronPigs reliever J.C. Ramirez, who was given the loss.
It was Clement's fifth and sixth homers of the season and they helped raise his batting average to .205 following the 2-for-4 performance. It was the former Bobcat's second two-homer game of the season. His last two-homer contest came in Columbus, Ohio, on May 4.
Clement went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the second game.
