Conrad will be hopping with activity Friday and Saturday as its annual festival - Black Dirt Days - returns.

This year the festival is going with a full carnival instead of just a few inflatable rides. The rides start Friday night and run all day and late into the night Saturday.

"We've had a lot of suggestions from people who wanted more stuff for the teenagers," said Angie Martin, chair of the festival. "We'll try the carnival this year and see if it works or doesn't work."

Veterans lead the parade during last year’s Black Dirt Days in Conrad. The 2013 festival will be Friday and Saturday.

The popular parade will head through town at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Grand marshal of the parade is legendary BCLUW coach Dave Lee. The 2013 Little Ms. and Mr. Black Dirt Days are Devin Peterson and Owen Myers.

"The parade has been getting better all the time," Martin said.

There will be two truck-and-tractor pull events Saturday, one at 9 a.m. and one at 2 p.m.
