A 70-year-old man allegedly ran a stop light Tuesday afternoon, smashing into a People Rides caravan, injuring himself and the other driver.
Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said Theodore Krough, of Conrad, ran the stop light at the intersection of Center Street and Bearle Road, near Perkins, colliding with Jo Reinertson, 56, of Marshalltown.
Reinertson was turning north on Center Street when, according to eye-witness accounts, Krough ran the light and slammed the driver's side of his pickup into the rear driver side of the People Rides caravan driven by Reinertson.

A Conrad man allegedly drove his pickup through a stop light at the intersection of Berle Road and Center Street, smashing into a People Rides Caravan, shown here Tuesday afternoon. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles and complained of minor injuries following the crash, Hanken said. Paramedics transported the two to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center for treatment.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, but Hanken said an exact estimate was unavailable at press time.
Charges for failing to obey a traffic signal are pending against Krough, Hanken said.
Marshalltown Area Paramedic Services and the Marshalltown Fire Department assisted the MPD with the crash.
