The Bobcat pair won their opener in straight sets over Dubuque Senior's Ashton Stoppelmoor and Gabe Mozena, 6-2, 6-3, and then held off Sophie Mallaro and Brennan Ashwood in the round of 32, 7-6 (5) 7-6 (1).
The Bobcat pair overcame a rally from West Des Moines Valley's Jenni Aldrich and Anders Jensen to prevail 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (8) to reach the quarterfinals, and it was a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (8) triumph over Iowa City West's Elena Wilson and Kenny Goins that got the MHS duo into the semifinals.
There they ran into Ames' Judith Fan and Alex Huang, who won a 6-1, 6-1 match.
Fan placed seventh in 2A singles, while Huang placed third on the boys' side. Shomo was a sixth-place finisher for the Bobcats.
