GLADBROOK - Samantha Holtz tossed a two-hitter and the South Tama County softball team scored a 6-1 victory over Gladbrook-Reinbeck in Thursday's NICL West Division contest.

Holtz struck out one and did not walk a batter, while also leading the Trojans at the plate with three hits and two RBIs.

Hailee Weiss and Riley Craun both contributed two of STC's 11 hits, helping the Trojans (4-6, 2-3) end a brief two-game conference skid.

Taylor Street pitched into the fourth inning for Gladbrook-Reinbeck (1-5, 0-2), taking the loss.

South Tama is scheduled to play in the Vinton-Shellsburg Tournament on Saturday, meeting the host Vikings at 11 a.m. The 9 a.m. opener pairs Dunkerton and Belle Plaine.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck is off until Monday, when it hosts Class 3A No. 6 East Marshall in NICL West action.
