Domestic dispute gets local man aggravated assault charge

A local man faces aggravated assault charges after allegedly grabbing his wife, injuring her finger Friday night.

Ruben Rodriguez, 29, hit his wife in the back and grabbed her by the hand, causing injury to the middle finger on her right hand, at the couple's home on the 500 block of South Sixth Street, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department.

Police charged Rodriguez with aggravated domestic assault, an aggravated misdemeanor. The victim declined medical treatment.

Local man charged with endangering sons

Marshalltown police charged a local man with three misdemeanors for allegedly assaulting his wife in front of the couple's children Sunday night.

Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said Pedro Gonzalez, 43, pulled his wife to the ground, bruising her arms, in front of their 5-year-old and 9-year-old sons at their home on the 100 block of North 14th Avenue.

Police charged Gonzalez with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor, and two counts of child endangerment without injury, aggravated misdemeanors. Gonzalez appeared in court Monday, where the judge set his bond at $2,000.

Amy Ihde, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. June 28. Ihde was released on her own recognizance. The court ordered her to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Tim Shawn Winger, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. June 20. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that if Winger possessed any firearms or ammunition he was to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours and make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Pedro Gonzalez-Magana, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge and two counts of a child endangerment charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. June 20. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety. The court ordered that if he owned or possessed any firearms or ammunition he was to make arrangements with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours to surrender them.

Accidents

On Sunday, June 2, a car driven by Desirae Elizabeth Luethje, 202 N. First Ave., was exiting a private driveway onto the 500 block of North Third Street when it collided with a vehicle driven by Belen Rios, 511 Roberts Terrace, and continued southbound leaving the scene. No injuries were reported. Luethje was cited for vehicle only and no insurance. Damage to the Luethje car was estimated at $2,500 while the Rios vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Friday, June 7, a pickup driven by Sherry Lee Reese, of Gladbrook, was parked in the Fareway parking lot when it backed up and collided with a legally parked car in a space behind. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Reese pickup was estimated at $200 while the legally parked car received an estimated $2,200 in damage.

On Friday, June 7, a pickup driven by Alan Scott Borton, 1863 Marsh Ave., was traveling on North Third Avenue when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Delores Frances Keys, 1007 W. Nevada St., which was stopped at a stop sign. No injuries were reported. Borton was cited for following too closely and failure to have a valid driver's license. Damage to the Borton pickup was estimated at $500 while the Keys car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Friday, June 7, a car driven by Nancy Michael Dubay-Mixon, of Des Moines, was northbound on South Center Street when it collided with the rear of a pickup driven by Donald Burton Gorsuch, 2468 Reed Ave., which was stopped for a light at the intersection with Southridge Road. No injuries were reported. Dubay-Mixon was cited for following too closely while Gorsuch was cited for no insurance. Damage to the Dubay-Mixon car was estimated at $1,500 while the Gorsuch pickup received an estimated $200 in damage.

On Sunday, June 9, Pedro Gonzalez Magana, 108 N. 14th Ave., was arrested for serious domestic assault and two counts of child endangerment without injury.

On Saturday, June 8, Ronald William Metivier Jr., of State Center, was arrested for theft-third degree from Walmart.

On Saturday, June 8, Shelly Jo Umbaugh, 3202 S. 12th St. Lot #77, was arrested for theft-third degree from Walmart, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance-hydrocodon-second offense.

On Saturday, June 8, Timothy John Pieper, of Union, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Saturday, June 8, Roberto Oliveros-Roman, 507 N. First St. Apt. #1, was arrested for serious domestic assault, false imprisonment and three counts of child endangerment without injury.

On Friday, June 7, Allen Darrell Loys Jr., Homeless, was arrested for theft-third degree.

On Friday, June 7, De Tu Nu, 407 W. Main St. Apt. #301, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Friday, June 7, Mark Ralph Johnston, 110 N. 14th St., was arrested for public intoxication.
