The Central Iowa Conference's Northern Division championship will hang in the balance, so the doubleheader must be played.
The Marshalltown High School baseball team has rescheduled its CIC North twinbill at Fort Dodge for Saturday, with the 1 p.m. doubleheader set to determine the conference champion.
Both the Bobcats (15-17) and the Class 4A No. 6-ranked Dodgers (21-12) currently have 6-4 records in the league. Ames (16-12) is just one back at 5-5 in division play after sweeping Fort Dodge on Monday night.
A sweep for Marshalltown or Fort Dodge would secure an outright conference crown, but Ames still has hope to gain a share of the league title, too. The Little Cyclones host Mason City (12-15, 3-7) on Saturday as well, and an Ames sweep coupled with a Marshalltown-Fort Dodge split would create a three-way tie atop the conference standings.
Fort Dodge swept the Bobcats in their first meeting this season, 5-0 and 9-2, back on June 3 at the MHS diamond in Marshalltown. Ames blanked Mason City twice, 7-0 and 13-0.
