A Marshalltown man awaiting trial on two violent crimes was arrested by Tama County Sheriff's officers Tuesday.
Mario Fernando Castellanos, 25, was charged with aggravated domestic abuse July 22 after he allegedly beat his girlfriend with a metal pipe at a Marshalltown motel. The woman, who police said had multiple bruises, fled and contacted police. Castellanos had been at large until Tuesday.
He made his initial court appearance Wednesday and was released after posting $2,000 bail.
Castellanos is also charged with assault and neglect from an incident in February when he allegedly used a stun gun on his stepson while Castellanos' son was present. The stepson was treated and released at a local hospital.
