David L. Moore of Springfield passed away August 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospital. He was born June 4, 1949, to Charles and Betty (Elliott) Moore in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1968 and was a proud Air Force Vietnam Veteran. David worked as a federal police officer at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, for 25 years. He married Anita King, in 1979, and spent nearly 34 happy years together. He was an active member of Gateway Christian Church. David was an avid photographer and gun enthusiast, visiting the range often to keep his skills sharp. He loved barbecuing, tech gadgets and the family cats.
David is preceded in death by his father, Charles Moore, his grandparents and stepfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anita; mother, Betty Moore-McKibben of Marshalltown, Iowa; brother, Charles (Patty) Moore of Kansas City, MO; sister, Suzie Moore of Stanhope, Iowa; two nephews, Scott (Anne) Moore and Bob (Andrea) Lutter; one niece, Traci (Kent) Hall; and seven great-nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A visitation and service was held Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield, MO. Interment will be August 5, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa, following a graveside service at 2pm.
