DURHAM, N.C. - Jeff Clement continued his torrid pace at the plate, going 3-for-5 on Tuesday night with his 14th home run of the season in a 6-4 Rochester Red Wings victory over the Durham Bulls.
Clement belted a solo home run in the sixth inning to tie the game at 4-all and then gave his team some added insurance with an RBI double in the top of the ninth. He also scored twice.
The Marshalltown native is now batting .220 thanks to a six-game surge in which he's gone 12-for-28 (.429) with three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs. It's the most prolific stretch of hitting for the former Bobcat slugger since he was signed to the Minnesota Twins' Triple-A affiliate in the spring.
The Red Wings (65-54) play again tonight and Friday at Durham (73-45) before continuing on their 11-game road swing with stops in Norfolk, Va., and Buffalo, N.Y.
