DES MOINES The Drake University volleyball program has added four student-athletes to the program, first-year head coach Darrin

McBroom announced Thursday.

The new Bulldogs are Samantha Meyers (Grundy Center), Meredith Moore (Normal, Ill.), Michelle Thommi (Omaha, Neb.) and Taylor Zant (Libertyville, Ill.).

"I am very excited about the addition of these athletes," said McBroom. "Each one brings a level of depth and experience that will truly add and contribute to the success of our program this season.

"All of them have played for top club programs in their respective regions and earned significant high school honors."

Thommi, a libero/defensive specialist, played for Skutt Catholic in Omaha, Neb. She lettered all four years and helped the Skyhawks finish third at the 2011 Nebraska state tournament.

Zant, a 6-0 opposite hitter, was a two-time all-conference selection and helped the Libertyville Wildcats place fourth at the 2012 Illinois Class 4A state championship.

Drake starts the 2013 campaign with a contest against Stetson University on Aug. 30 at the UniWyo Invite in Laramie, Wyo.
