The Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center will open its doors to a furrier than normal crowd next week.
The Marshalltown Parks and Recreation department's 5th Annual Doggie Dip will take place Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 19 and 20, and is open to any dog.
Jennifer Hart, recreation supervisor with Parks and Rec, said the Doggie Dip is an opportunity for anyone to bring their four-legged friend for a swim in a clean, safe environment.

Dogs can take to the Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center Monday and Tuesday for the 5th Annual Doggie Dip.
"It's an opportunity for dog owners to bring their dogs to the aquatic center for an hour swim," she said.
There are separate times set for small and large dogs; dogs weighing 25 pounds and under can swim from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and dogs weighing more than 25 pounds can swim from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. both nights.
Hart said there isn't a limit on the number of dogs allowed in the pool and said in past years staff has seen a large number of dogs attend, which is why Parks and Rec scheduled two nights this year.

and Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

"We usually have a good turn out," she said.
Admission is $5 per dog and humans are free, Hart said, but she said owners are asked to not swim with their dogs unless it is a service animal or needs assistance.
Each dog must be on a leash and the owner must show proof of the animal's rabies and parvovirus vaccination. The owner is also responsible for picking up after their dog, Hart said.
"If your dog can't play nice, we might ask you to leave, and any dog deemed vicious by the city of Marshalltown is also not allowed," she said.
