Staker elected president of CAPS board

Jason Staker was recently elected president of the board of directors of Child Abuse Prevention Services, according to Director Jana Enfield.

"We are very happy that Jason has agreed to lead our organization this year," Enfield said. "In the past three years he has been instrumental in assisting us in showcasing our prevention efforts. We are excited to have Jason sharing his expertise and leadership in the coming year."

Staker

Staker is director of communications for the Marshalltown Community School District, where he is responsible for district publications, media relations, marketing, branding and website and social media management. He holds a master's degree in communication studies from the University of Northern Iowa and bachelor's degree in journalism/mass communications and English from Simpson College. Prior to entering school for public relations in November 2008, he served as news editor for the Traer Star-Clipper and Dysart Reporter newspapers in Tama County. He resides in Toledo.

"Child Abuse Prevention Services is an incredible organization providing valuable services to children and families in and around Marshall County. I'm extremely honored and happy to be elected president of the board of directors and look forward to seeing the good work of CAPS continue to grow," Staker said.

Child Abuse Prevention Services is a nonprofit agency that is organized to prevent child abuse in Marshall County and the surrounding area. It is funded in part by the Marshalltown Area United Way.

DCI Group enrolls in WORKSAFE program

Construction Manager DCI Group, of Indianola, along with prime contractors, partnered with Iowa OSHA Consultation and Master Builders of Iowa by enrolling their project, the renovation of Iowa Veterans Home Dack & Malloy Hall, Marshalltown, in a new safety program called WORKSAFE.

The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Master Builders of Iowa have entered into an alliance to promote, train and recognize best safety practices on construction sites in the state of Iowa. WORKSAFE is a product of this alliance developed to encourage and recognize the best practices of pre-construction planning and safety surveys which engage stakeholders in safe work behaviors and efforts.

DCI Group Iowa Veterans Home Dack & Malloy Hall Renovations project is anticipated to be completed by summer of 2016.
