Thursday

John Michael McMeekin, of Laurel, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The court condemned the bond for payment and the remainder will be returned to the payee.

Jeffrey Flowers, address unknown, made an initial appearance for failure to appear on a trespass charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. The court appointed attorney Laura Eilers to represent him in this case. The pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Oct. 1 in Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of the case.

Mindy Lynn Reed, 415 N. 11th Ave., made an initial appearance on a warrant for probation violation and on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 3 p.m. on Sept. 20. A trial on the possession of drug paraphernalia charge will be seen at the same time. The bond on the probation violation charge is $1,000 cash only. Reed was released on her own recognizance on the possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

Juan Raul Velez, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a violation of pre-trial release. The court appointed Jennifer Meyer to act as counsel. His next court dates are a pre-trial conference at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 and a jury trial at 9 a.m. on Oct. 10. Bond is set at $1,000 cash.

Robin Bader, 4 N. 12th Ave., made an initial appearance on a identity theft charge and a theft-third degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Bader was released on her own recognizance.

Faith Elaine Burns, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Burns was released on her own recognizance. The court ordered that if she owned or possessed any firearms she is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours and make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Stephen Michael McCrink, address unknown, made an initial appearance on two counts of probation violation. He will hire Kevin O'Hare as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court as its docket permits. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only on each charge.

Chris Allen Larson, 405 N. 15th Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred-habitual offender charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 17. Larson was released on his own recognizance.

Incidents

On Monday, Brandy Boertje, 803 E. State St., reported the theft of a Cub Cadet lawn mower and a car jack set. Estimated value of loss was $400.

On Aug. 21, an employee with Casey's General Store, 111 N. Third Ave., reported the theft of three bottles of Jose Cuervo, a bottle of Jim Beam and a bottle of Captain Morgan valued at $117.05.

On Wednesday, Carlos Rios, 309 N. First St. Apt. #2, reported the theft of a wallet and contents from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $3,070.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Eric Mayes, 812 E. State St., was arrested for burglary.

On Tuesday, Ben Dean Keller, 402 N. First St. Apt. #1, was arrested for burglary-third degree and possession of burglary tools.

On Tuesday, Shanya Joy Piersol, address unknown, was arrested for disorderly conduct.

On Tuesday, Florita Ann Castellanos, 112 W. Lincoln St., was arrested for disorderly conduct.

On Wednesday, Cristina Sandoval, 802 W. Main St., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Wednesday, Christopher Allen Larson, 405 N. 15th Ave., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Wednesday, James Allen Lambert, 609 E. Main St., was arrested for theft-fourth degree.

On Aug. 21, Nancy Jean Baldwin, 1001 W. Iowa Ave. #23, was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

On Sunday, July 14, Abdelfarag Hassan Salih, 114 N. 12th Ave. Apt. #1, was arrested for public intoxication-enhanced, aggravated.

Accidents

On Wednesday, a car driven by Marilyn June Leatherman, 6 S. Sixth St., was southbound in the thousand block of North Third Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the travel portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Leatherman car was estimated at $5,000.

On Wednesday, a car driven by Kenneth Carl Schoborg, of New Providence, was exiting a parking spot at Fareway when it hit pedestrian Shirley Jean Porter, 1506 Laurel Dr., who was walking to her car from the store knocking her to the ground. Porter was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries.

On Wednesday, a car driven by Cristina Sandoval, 802 W. Main St., was northbound on North Second Avenue when it went through the stop sign at the intersection with East State Street and collided with a car driven by Lisa Renee Mann, 203 E. Church St., which was traveling west on State Street. No injuries were reported. Sandoval was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and no insurance. Damage to the Sandoval car was estimated at $1,500 while the Mann car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Wednesday, a 15-year-old male from Marshalltown was cited for curfew violation.

On Wednesday, a 14-year-old female from Marshalltown was cited for violation of curfew.

On Wednesday, Cristina Sandoval, 802 W. Main St., was cited for driving while barred.

On Aug. 6, Debra Rae Netolicky, 606 W. Lincoln Way, was cited for rabies vaccination violation.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a rescue at 630 Ratcliffe Drive, a call to 309 N. First St., two fire calls to 812 Jackson St., and 10 W. Lincoln St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 514 N. 16th St., and 1211 W. State St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a fire call to 311 N. Third St., and four rescue calls to: 1 E. Main St., 122 W. Main St., 919 Jackson St., and 200 S. 12th Ave.

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a call to 401 N. 14th Ave., and 304 N. Third St., two rescue calls to 3100 Zeller Ave., and 102 E. Anson St., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 410 E. State St., and 514 Brentwood Road.

Incidents

On Sunday, John Paul Stephens, of State Center, reported the theft of a 40 inch Acetylene tank with fuel from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $450.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Ryan Lee Bracy, of Des Moines, was arrested for domestic assault-contempt of court.

On Tuesday, Gordon Michel Riendeau, 705 Roberts Terrace, was arrested for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance-meth and unlawful possession of prescription drugs-methadone.

On Tuesday, Juan Carlos Castellanos, 604 W. Boone St., was arrested for probation violation.

On Monday, Tammy Shawn Sanchez, 2552 Smith Ave. Lot #53, was arrested for theft-fifth degree.

On Sunday, James Levi Coughenour, 206 S. Fourth St. Apt. #2, was arrested for probation violation.

On Sunday, Heather Lynn Bell, 111 N. 21st St., was arrested for weapon law violation.

On Aug. 23, Shawn George Wooster, of Newton, was arrested for probation violation.

On Aug. 22, Darcy Rene Lopez, of Des Moines, was arrested for driving under suspension and unlawful use of a license.

On Aug. 21, Jorge Luis Alvarado, 108 N. 13th St., was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a driving under suspension charge.

Accidents

On Aug. 21, a pickup driven by Sandra Louise Jackson, of Rhodes, was northbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway from the median causing disabling damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Jackson pickup was estimated at $3,000.
