Richard G. Clar Sr. 77, of Delhi, formerly of Cedar Rapids died Friday September 6, 2013 at his home after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include two daughters Cynthia (Kenneth) Miller of Coggon and Teresa (Jerry) Albaugh of Marion; three brothers Charles (Julie) Steitz, Dennis (Amy) Steitz and Ron( Debbie) Steitz; three sisters Shirley Funte, Pam Delaney and Wanda(Bill) Lunn; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and caregivers John and Naomi Hodges. Thank you all who had helped him. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son Richard Jr. and one brother Marty Steitz, mom and step-father.
Dick was born on April 30, 1936 in Green Mountain, Iowa the son of Helen Clar. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1954. He married Susan M Scorpil on August 18, 1956 in Cedar Rapids and had three children. Susan passed away in 1992.
Richard worked at Wilson Sinclair/Farmstead and retired from there after many years of service just before they closed. He was associated with St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Delaware and was a former member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed watching T.V., especially old westerns, boating on Lake Delhi, woodworking, ham radios and the time spent with his friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all how knew and loved him.
