Russell F. Head, 75

September 11, 2013
Times-Republican

Russell Frederick Head, devoted servant of the Lord, came to rest in the presence of family in Tucson, AZ on 7 September 2013 after 75 years on this Earth. He was preceded in death by his older brother Norman. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Viola Lee Head; children James Head, David Mason, and Laura Brann; and seven grandchildren, all residing in the Tucson area. Born and raised in St. Louis where he met and married his bride, he graduated from Washington U. in St. Louis then joined Monsanto's Research and Development division, leading to 28 years with Fisher Controls. He was a Trustee of Central Christian Church, serving in several capacities while a member there. He was a notable purveyor of puns and elaborate practical jokes. An imperturbable and gentle demeanor offset an insightful and rapier wit. He is missed by all who knew him. Services will be held Sept. 22 at Sanctuary Church in Tucson, 520-207-6453. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation: www.alzdiscovery.org
