Police develop leads in shooting investigation

The Marshalltown Police Department is following leads and tracking down critical people involved in Tuesday night's shooting in Marshalltown.

Capt. Mike Hanken said detectives are trying to locate some additional people to speak with regarding the case, and few details will be released until those interviews are complete.

A 17-year-old boy was shot around 6:30 p.m. and sought treatment for a gunshot wound at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center.

The exact location of the incident has not been disclosed, however officers were on the 600 block of West State Street last night. Preliminary information indicates that some sort of altercation occurred in this area.

"We're trying to locate some additional people to speak with and connect a few of the dots," Hanken said.

He said the shooting victim remains in the hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.

"He's a lucky young man," Hanken said.
