Attempted murder suspect apprehended

A man wanted for the attempted murder of a 17-year-old Marshalltown boy was apprehended late Saturday night.

Daniel Lott, 32, of Marshalltown was arrested in Tama County.

Police believe Lott shot Mario G. Murrillo in the head on Tuesday evening in Marshalltown.

Murrillo showed up at the local emergency room seeking treatment for the gunshot wound, which spurred the investigation. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the altercation likely took place in the 600 block of West State Street.

Online court records show Lott has previously been charged with burglary, theft, domestic abuse and criminal mischief, among other charges.

Attempted murder, a Class B felony, is punishable up to 25 years in prison.
