A Marshalltown man left to Denver Monday to help those affected by the Colorado floods, after a week of rain, on the northeastern slopes of the Rockies.
Don Boehler is one of eight central Iowa disaster volunteers with the Red Cross that is helping in Colorado.
Boehler is doing IT work for the disaster operation center; he could not be reached for comment Monday.
Kara Kelly, regional communications officer with the Red Cross, said from Denver he will get transferred to another city. Kelly is not sure where he went from there. According to the Red Cross, 18,000 homes were affected by the Colorado flooding and some communities have limited access because of flooding and damaged roads.
To help with the floods in Colorado, the Red Cross will accept donations on its website or at the local chapter.
