Frank Oral Brees, 95, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at the Iowa Veterans Home.
Funeral services for Frank will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until services on Thursday, September 19, 2013 where his family will be present to greet friends. Frank Oral Brees was born on August 20, 1918 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Sereno Morten "Pat" Brees and Lottie May (Moore). He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown school district graduating from Marshalltown High School. After high school Frank worked briefly for the railroad before joining the Army on December 22, 1942. After Frank got out of the service on January 14, 1946, he worked at Marshalltown Trowel Company for many years until retirement. Frank was united in marriage to Marilyn (Elliott) on January 31, 1976 in Nashua, IA. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses and enjoyed participating in the volunteer work of sharing the news of Gods Kingdom with other people; He had a great love of music and played the bass with a variety of dance bands over the years.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Marilyn Brees; children: Nancy Brees of Marshalltown, Iowa and Patricia Walker of North Liberty, Iowa; step-children: Rodger Lawson of Houston, Texas and LeAnn Marie Cunningham of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren: Kellie, Lee, Mallory; Sean, Jennifer; step-grandchildren Katie and Tyler and several great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Ray, Jim and Paul; one sister: Virginia; and one son: Dennis.
