LONDON - A reworking of Homer's "Iliad" by British poet Alice Oswald has won the Warwick Prize for Writing, an eclectic literary award open to English-language works in any genre and from any country.

Oswald's "Memorial" was named winner of the 25,000 pound ($40,000) prize on Tuesday. The poem reimagines the Trojan War saga, focusing on the scores of dead soldiers mentioned in Homer's epic.
