Library adds new beginning reader titles to collection

September 27, 2013

Approximately 50 new beginning reader titles were added to the library's collection, thanks to a grant from MechDyne Corporation, a global technology company based in Marshalltown. Beginning reader books are great short read-alouds for children of any age, but are specifically written with a controlled vocabulary, making them "just right" for new readers (usually ages 5 to 7) to practice reading. The grant funds from MechDyne also purchased some new picture books "read-alongs" (books with accompanying CDs), which is another great tool for new or emerging readers, as well as for English language learners. For more information on any library materials or services for children, please call the library at 641-754-5738, extension 3 for the youth department.
