YMCA/YWCA Heritage Club receives contribution from Hunt estate

September 29, 2013

Verle and Ellen Hunt were long-time supporters of the Marshalltown Y and were members of the YMCA/YWCA Heritage Club.

"The mission of the Y appealed to them - supporting both youth and adults," is how they were described by friend and Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA Board Member Jim Moore.

Upon their deaths, Ellen in April of 2012 and Verle in April of 2013, the couple made significant contributions to the YMCA/YWCA Heritage Club and 11 additional community organizations through their estate.

Joe and Diane Hunt described both Verle and Ellen as very community-focused.

"They were active in the community and supported Marshalltown throughout their lives. This was a very nice gift to organizations that make an impact in the areas important to them," Diane Hunt said.

YMCA/YWCA Heritage Club Board Chair Kevin Swartz said, "The YMCA/YWCA Heritage Club is truly appreciative of this gift from the Hunt estate. It will have a significant impact on future generations to come, not only at the Y but in the entire community."
