The Marshalltown Fire Department released information on Thursday that a vacant house at 1010 Prairie Lane caught on fire at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Scott Johnson, acting fire chief, said the fire was coming from the roof and attic, resulting in $30,000 worth of damages to the two story house. The six firefighter team spent two hours putting the fire out. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Johnson said this type of fire is uncommon.
