Ortberg joins the business council

DES MOINES - Robert K. "Kelly" Ortberg, CEO and president of Rockwell Collins, Inc., in Cedar Rapids has accepted an invitation to join the Iowa Business Council. Council membership consists of the top executives of Iowa's largest employers, the three Regent universities and the Iowa Bankers Association.

Stan Askren, IBC chair and chairman, president and CEO of HNI Corporation in Muscatine, said, "Kelly continues a line of strong and distinguished business leaders at Rockwell Collins. He will be a valuable asset to the important policy work in which the Business Council is engaged."

Ortberg

Ortberg joined Rockwell Collins in 1987 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa. Ortberg was appointed president in September 2012 and was elected CEO in July 2013. Prior to these roles, he served the company as executive vice president and chief operating officer of both Government Systems and Commercial Systems, as well as vice president and general manager of both Air Transport Systems and Communications Systems for the Government Systems business. A native of Dubuque, Ortberg serves as a director on the boards for the Rockwell Collins Good Government Committee, The University of Iowa Engineering Advisory Board, the Hawkeye Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industries Association and the Iowa Governor's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Advisory Council.
