Lillian Kelley, 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until services at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or the Marshalltown Animal Rescue League. Lillian Harriet Hatcher was born at home in rural Clemons on February 11, 1922. She was the daughter of M. Perry and Bessie Fern (Hof) Hatcher, she attended school in the Clemons Community School District graduating with the class of 1939. In 1943, Lillian was united in marriage to Gerald Yates and they later divorced. In 1961, Lillian married Hubert Kelley and they lived in Marshalltown, moved to Grand Junction, Colorado and later returned to Marshalltown. Lillian worked at Fisher Govenor in Marshalltown, Iowa for 18 years and City Market in Grand Junction, Colorado for 12 years in cost accounting, retiring in 1986. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Y Hobby Club and VFW. Lillian enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and will be remembered as a great cook especially her Blue Ribbon winning angel food cake and had a great love for her animals and raising poodles.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Barbara(Ed) Matya of Marshalltown, Iowa, Stepchildren: Steven (Sandra) Kelley of Arizona and Laurie Kelley of Marshalltown, Iowa, granddaughter, Jaren Kelley and brother, Wilbur (Marilyn) Hatcher of Marshalltown.
In death Lillian rejoins her parents, Milton and Bessie and husbands, Gerald and Hubert.
