The House of Compassion was given 255 pounds of beef, pork and lamb from WHO Radio and Hy-Vee. Troy Case, Ric Anderson, John Goerdt, Stephen Larson and Karen Frohwein are shown at Hy-Vee next to the House of Compassion’s prize on Monday. Frohwein said the HoC was one of four statewide organizations entered in a contest to win the Iowa State Fair’s grand champion meat bought by Hy-Vee. The organization that had the most votes on WHO’s website won the contest.
Frohwein said the meat will be used for the HoC’s evening meals.
“The cooks will get to have some fun making something unusual, not just our usual, wonderfully delicious casseroles,” Frohwein said. “We’ve never had lamb before that I know of at the House so that’s going to be wild.”
