Man deals his prescription pills

A local man was arrested for allegedly selling his prescription pills.

Steven Kunch, 55, was arrested Friday by Marshalltown police for selling Hydrocodone, a pain killer.

Kunch had been under investigation since July after a source came to the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force saying he was selling prescription medication.

Sgt. Joel Phillips of the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force said the ultimate goal was to find Kunch's source. However, it was found he was legally prescribed the medication and sold off what he did not use for financial gain.

The Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force purchased 12 tablets from him, Phillips said.

Kunch was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony. He is in jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.

Man breaks into motel room

A local man was arrested after he allegedly kicked in a door of a motel threatening an assault.

Josh W. Rhoades, 19, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. Saturday, in a room at the Franklin Motel, 1108 W. Iowa Ave., after officers received a call from the victim.

Police said Rhoades allegedly went to the motel to confront the victim, a threat was made, but no assault took place.

Rhoades was arrested shortly after in his motel room for second-degree burglary and threatening an assault, a Class C felony.

Barred driver arrested on multiple charges

A local man was arrested on multiple counts after an officer pulled him over for a traffic violation.

Pedro A. Guadiana, 20, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, on the 100 block of S. Third St. after an officer pulled him over for not having a license plate.

According to police, when the officer went to talk to him about the missing plate he provided false identification and his car smelled like marijuana.

After a search the officer found a little more than four grams of marijuana and a purple bong.

Guadiana was arrested for providing false identification, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and driving while barred.

Local woman arrested on warrant

A woman wanted in Black Hawk County was arrested after she called Marshalltown police while intoxicated.

Gina L. Ramos, 23, of Marshalltown, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Haley's Grocery and Deli, 501 N. Third Ave. after she made a call to officers about her sister.

Ramos said she was leaving the bar with her sister and they got in an argument on the way home. As her sister was driving the car Ramos got out and went to the grocery store to call the police explaining to them her sister pushed her out.

Upon arrival, police said they noticed Ramos was intoxicated and she was uncooperative.

Officers then found out there was a warrant for her arrest in Black Hawk County. She is also charged with interference with official acts.

Man assaults his child's mother

A local man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his child's mother.

Dobuol Lual, 23, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on the 100 block of N. 12th Ave. after he allegedly threw the victim on the couch and hit her multiple times on the head.

According to police, the victim went back to Lual's house to get some of her belongings because she had just moved out. Shortly after she arrived, Lual and his roommate arrived.

Lual got in an argument with the victim which led to the assault.

His roommate pulled him away from her and she ran to the neighbor's house to call police.

No major injuries were reported. Their child was not present.

Lual was arrested and charged with simple domestic assault, a simple misdemeanor.

Ryan Mark Biensen, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Nov. 19 in Magistrate Court. Biensen was released on his own recognizance.

Shwe Win Mya, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance through a Burmese interpreter on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 8. He was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Andrew Osler, of Council Bluffs, made an initial appearance on a trespass charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Nov. 19 until the debt is paid in full.

Gustavo Alonso-Diaz Jr., 106 W. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and on a warrant for failure to appear for a sentencing hearing. He pleaded guilty to the possession of drug paraphernalia charge and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge, a $10 DARE surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $282.75. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Nov. 19 until the debt is paid in full. On the failure to appear charge the court rescheduled the sentencing hearing for 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 28. Darrell Meyer will continue as counsel. Bond on this charge is $2,000 cash only.

Marcus Lee Calmer, of Council Bluffs, made an initial appearance on a possession of burglary tools charge and a trespass charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Oct. 31. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Ernesto Ruiz Silva, 2658 Reed Ave. Apt. #1, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 8. Ruiz Silva was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that if he owned or possessed any firearms or ammunition, Ruiz Silva was to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours and make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Heather Walsingham, 521 N. First St. Apt. #4, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 8. Walsingham was released on her own recognizance. The court ordered that if she owned or possessed any firearms or ammunition, Walsingham is to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office within 24 hours to make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Victor Manuel Cisneros-Bravo, 530 N. First St., made an initial appearance through a family interpreter on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge, a no driver's license charge, a no insurance-accident charge and a failure to maintain control charge. He will hire his own attorney. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 8. Cisneros-Bravo was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered as a condition of release that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days of today's date.

Alec Dane Jensen, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to transfer title charge and a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. On the failure to transfer title charge, was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days of today's date. The fine on the driving under suspension charge was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days of today's date.

Chan Kep, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway charge, a careless driving charge, a failure to maintain control charge, a no valid driver's license charge and a striking fixtures charge. He pleaded guilty to all charges. On the driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway and failure to maintain control charges the fines were $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195 on each charge. The careless driving charge fine was $35 with a $12.25 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $107.25. On the no valid driver's license, the fine was $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The charge on the striking fixtures charge was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. Payment of all charges is due within 30 days of today's date.

Nathan Joseph Schmidt, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a failure to stop within an assured, clear distance charge. The no insurance charge was dropped when proof of insurance was provided with court costs of $60 assessed, due within 30 days of today's date. The fine on the failure to stop charge is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days of today's date.

Thaddeus Joseph Graves, 313 N. Fourth Ave., made an initial appearance on a violation of probation charge. A scheduling hearing for his probation revocation hearing is pending. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only. If Graves makes bond, he is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services.
