Argument over movie rental led to assault

A local woman was arrested for allegedly scratching her husband after an argument over a movie rental.

Heather L. N. Walsingham, 21, was arrested around 4:30 a.m. Monday on the 500 block of N. First St. after she allegedly scratched her husband's body during an argument.

Officers arrived to the residence and made numerous attempts to make contact with the people inside; eventually the victim answered the door.

Throughout the investigation officers discovered a cut on Walsingham's body that required her to go to the hospital. The victim had scratches that did not need medical attention. Police said the cause of Walsingham's cut is unknown.

Once Walsingham was treated for her injury she was charged with serious domestic assault, a serious misdemeanor.

Incidents

On Oct. 18, Jessica Cruz, 609 E. Boone St., reported the theft of Kenwood speakers with a speaker box and a Alpine amplifier from a 1998 Ford Expedition while parked in her driveway. Estimated value of loss was $500.

On Oct. 16, Kevin Ray Madison Sr., 607 W. Linn St., reported the theft of a 1984 homemade specially construct trailer from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $900.

On Oct. 15, Angelita Felan Davalos, 309 N. Fourth St., reported the theft of an RCA 40 inch flatscreen TV, a 30 gallon air compressor, a hydraulic jack, two motor vehicle CD players and a DVD player from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,260.

On Sunday, Ryan David Harvey, 914 Jackson St., reported the theft of a pair of military issued gold spurs, a backpack, college books, a deer stand full harness, Oakley sunglasses, a Buck knife, a hunting pack, a Gerber hand saw, two deer scent cover liquids and a deer hunting tag from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $1,030.

On Sunday, Bobby E. Granderson Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., was cited for public urination.

On Sunday, a female juvenile from Marshalltown was cited for being in a bar under the legal age without a parent.

On Saturday, Terry Eugene Brown, 428 Swayze St. Apt. #2, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Monday, Dominick Martell Osborne, 407 W. Main St. Apt. #301, was cited for driving while barred.

On Sunday, a 15-year-old female from Marshalltown was cited for being a minor in a bar.

On Sunday, Alan Dale Buchheit, of Cedar Falls, was cited for simple assault.

On Sept. 30, Dominick Martell Osborne, 407 W. Main St. Apt. #301, was cited for driving while barred.

On Saturday, Joshua William Rhoades, 4 Marion St., was arrested for burglary-second degree.

On Saturday, Pedro Antonio Guadiana, 1505 S. Fourth St., was arrested for driving while barred, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana and providing false identification information.

On Saturday, Stayce Marie Robbins, 604 1/2 E. Linn St., was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense.

On Saturday, Tyler Reisinger, 1110 E. Main St. Apt. #1, was arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.

On Friday, Lucas William See, 1515 W. Main St., was arrested for public intoxication and public urination.

On Friday, Gina Lynn Ramos, 503 Summit St., was arrested for interference with official acts without injury.

On Friday, Robert Leslie Norton, 2677 Garwin Road, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Sunday, Marcus Lee Calmer, of Council Bluffs, was arrested for trespass and possession of burglar tools.

On Sunday, Shwe Win Mya, of Des Moines, was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

On Sunday, Gustavo A. Diaz Jr., 106 W. Boone St., was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Accidents

On Saturday, a car driven by Conrad L. Mandsager, of Nottingham, N.H., was eastbound on Iowa Avenue West approaching the Eighth Street intersection when it struck a deer head-on that entered the traveled portion of the roadway disabling the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Mandsager car was estimated at $15,000.

On Friday, a car driven by Jennifer Elizabeth Wise, 1913 Stratford Lane, was eastbound on Westwood Drive when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Catherine Marie Vanstaalduine, of Albion, which was stopped for deer crossing the road. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Wise car was estimated at $10,000 while the Vanstaalduine vehicle received an estimated $1,800 in damage.

On Oct. 10, a semi driven by Robert Neal Hummitsch, of Lesueur, Minn., was southbound on South Third Avenue at the intersection with East Anson Street when it attempted to turn west onto Anson and knocked down the walk/don't walk light sign on the northwest corner. No injuries were reported. Damage to the walk/don't walk light sign owned by the city of Marshalltown was estimated at $1,500.

On Oct. 9, a vehicle driven by Bryan Vasquez, 901 S. Second Ave., was westbound on West State Street when it went out of control, swerved in the middle of the 400 block, left the roadway to the north rolling over and striking the house at 407 W. State St., belonging to Ernesto Calderon. No injuries were reported. Vasquez was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Damage to the Calderon home was estimated at $3,000 while the Vasquez vehicle received an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a dispatched/cancelled en route to South 12th Avenue.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an over-heated motor at 925 N. Fourth Ave., and two medical assists with the EMS crew to 506 Edgebrook Court, and 906 W. State St.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke detector activation-no fire-unintentional at 211 W. Church St., a false alarm at 212 W. Ingledue St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 509 E. Olive St., 206 Nicholas Drive, 401 N. Fourth Ave., and 1301 Summit St.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 303 1/2 S. Fourth Ave., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1201 S. 12th St., 906 W. Nevada St., 209 N. First Ave., and 2907 S. Sixth St.
