Man on warrant arrested, then injures officers

A local man on warrant was found by officers and injured them as they were making the arrest.

Billy Bob J. Versteegh, 21, was arrested a little after midnight Wednesday on the 100 block of Byron Street, on a warrant and for allegedly causing wounds to two officers as they were making the arrest.

According to the Marshalltown Police Department they received a call about loud music coming from Versteegh's car. Once they identified Versteegh they placed him under arrest.

As they were trying to take custody of him, he caused wounds to the officers' knees and hands.

Versteegh was arrested on his warrant and given two additional charges for interference with official acts. Versteegh's original warrant was sent out by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department for first-degree theft.

The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 4. Bond is set at $12,000 total cash only.

Mowlid Abdi Hired, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a pre-trial violation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. A jury trial will be rescheduled by the District Court as its docket permits as will a pre-trial conference if it is deemed necessary. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

Edward Stokes Jr., address unknown, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge and a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 4. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Jeffrey Pepe, 909 1/2 S. Third Ave., made an initial appearance on a child endangerment without injury charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a public intoxication charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 4. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Phillip Davis, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a warrant for criminal mischief-fifth degree. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 plus an added expense for the serving of the warrant. The court allowed for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Nov. 21 until the debt is paid in full.

Sadie Wagner, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a theft-fourth degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 12. Wagner was released on her own recognizance.

Pedro Antonio Guadiana, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana charge, a providing false information charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a failure to display registered plates charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 12. Bond will continue as posted.

Amber Pushetonequa, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a serious assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 12. Pushetonequa was released on her own recognizance. The court ordered that she be photographed and fingerprinted no later than 4 p.m. on Friday. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.
