Skeletons, mask and talking about the dead will be part of event at the Marshalltown Public Library Wednesday, though it has nothing to do with Halloween.
The library will host a Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead event from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
This is an opportunity to learn about the roots of this traditional Latin American holiday which honors loved ones who have died.
"It's a beautiful way to look at death," said Joa LaVille, youth services librarian.
The event will include a presentation about the holiday, mask decorating and traditional food and dancing. It is not advised for young children to attend as some of the images and face painting could be disturbing.
"It will be a cultural education program not meant for young children," LaVille said.
